Fish Quan is a Malaysian photographer whose journey began with portrait photography.
Over the years, her approach has gradually shifted from pursuing technical perfection to something quieter and more instinctive – feeling.
Drawn to light, human presence and the relationship between people and their surroundings, she finds inspiration in moments that are often overlooked: a passing crowd, shifting shadows, fleeting encounters, and the stillness that remains when a city slows down.
For Fish, photography is more than a way of documenting what she sees. It is a way of experiencing the world.
She believes a photograph does not always need to provide an answer. Sometimes, it simply needs to invite the viewer to pause, look a little longer, and discover a feeling of their own.
“When you learn to see, you naturally photograph. When you learn to feel, your photographs begin to speak.”
